Semaine 202606 - Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) - Moderate activity in general practice

Lundi 02 févr. 2026

ARI are caused by a variety of respiratory viruses including SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19), influenza viruses, and other respiratory viruses such as RSV, rhinovirus, and metapneumovirus. The purpose of ARI surveillance is to monitor outbreaks of these viruses.

In mainland France, last week (2026w06), the incidence rate of acute respiratory infection (ARI) cases consulting in general practice was estimated at 322 cases per 100,000 population (95% CI [310; 333]).
Subject to future data consolidation, this rate is decreasing compared to the previous week and corresponds to a similar activity level to those usually observed at this time of the year (consolidated data for 2026w05: 356 [344; 367]).

At the regional level, the highest incidence rates were noted in: Bretagne (449 [393; 505]), Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (391 [342; 440]) and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (362 [327; 396]).

Influenza: the incidence rate of influenza cases seen in general practice for an ARI was estimated at 80 cases per 100,000 population (95% CI [63; 97]) (data sources: Sentinelles, SOS Médecins, DMGs Côte d'Azur, Rouen and Strasbourg).
Subject to future data consolidation, this rate is clearly decreasing (consolidated data for 2026w05:  132 [115; 149]) and corresponds to a low level of activity.

RSV infection: the incidence rate of RSV infection cases seen in general practice for an ARI was estimated at 25 cases per 100,000 population (95% CI [17; 33]) (data sources: Sentinelles, SOS Médecins, DMGs Côte d'Azur, Rouen and Strasbourg).
Subject to future data consolidation, this rate is stable (consolidated data for 2026w05: 27 [20; 34]) and corresponds to a moderate level of activity.

Bronchiolitis in children under one year old: the incidence rate of bronchiolitis cases in children under one year old seen in general practice was estimated at 295 cases per 100,000 population (95% CI [126; 464]) (data source: IQVIA (EMR)).
Subject to future data consolidation, this rate is stable (consolidated data for 2026w05: 381 [192; 570]) and corresponds to a low level of activity.

Covid-19: the incidence rate of Covid-19 cases seen in general practice for an ARI was estimated at 7 cases per 100,000 population (95% CI [5; 10]) (data source: Sentinelles).
Subject to future data consolidation, this rate is stable (consolidated data for 2026w05: 10 [4; 15]) and corresponds to a low level of activity.

Semaine 202606 - Acute diarrhea - Moderate activity in general practice

Lundi 02 févr. 2026

The purpose of acute diarrhea surveillance is to monitor gastroenteritis outbreaks.

In mainland France, last week (2026w06), the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was estimated at 103 cases per 100,000 population (95% CI [96; 109])
Subject to future data consolidation, this rate is slightly increasing for several weeks and corresponds to a similar activity level compared to those usually observed at this time of the year (consolidated data for 2026w05: 99 [93; 105]).

At the regional level, the highest incidence rates were noted in: Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (204 [168; 239]), Bretagne (128 [97; 159]) and Hauts-de-France (125 [99; 150]).

Subject to future data consolidation, this rate is stable compared to the previous week and corresponds to a lower level of activity than those usually observed at this time of the year (consolidated data for 2026w05: 11 [9; 13]).
